Biography

Andrew Mandinach is a filmmaker and installation artist based in Los Angeles. His work is guided by an interest in questioning personal histories in order to examine the past and encourage viewers to consider their personal experiences from a different perspective. A common theme in his work explores memory vs. the captured image, and often uses personas—such as the misfit or social outcast—to examine social mores. Rooted in real-life, experienced situations, Andrew's work often uses personas to create a dialogue about memory and perception. Mandinach's diverse body of works – video projections, audio installations, photography, public performances – ask viewers to consider their bodies within larger contexts.  Andrew received his BA in Visual Arts, Media with a minor in Ethnic Studies from The University of California at San Diego.
